Worf lightning are blue arcs of electricity that come out of a computer panel or whatever and envelop a person standing nearby. There's generally a lot of screaming, yelling, thrashing and throwing stuntmen around the set.
Named after Worf because of the epic scream he gave while being struck in TNG 107. This performance has since been outdone by Keiko in DS9 505.
